In case you can’t sleep, Mexico vs. United States, World Cup 2002, the full match.
Lyon’s official website has confirmed that Megan Rapinoe and Shinobu Ohno both made their debuts today. Rapinoe played the whole match against FC Shanghai as left back, in OL captain Sonia Bompastor’s place who is out with an injury, and scored her first goal for the club on a free kick, while Shinobu Ohno came on towards the end of the first half.
Interview with Megan Rapinoe
Why did you choose to play for Olympique Lyonnais rather than someplace else?Megan: I wanted to play for Lyon for many reasons. I felt that this was a moment of my career where I really needed a challenge. I have had quite a lot of success the past few seasons, but I still think that I have a lot of things that I can improve on. If I can play with some of the best players in the world, and against the best teams in the world, then that will be a great joy for me. To live and play in France is another reason. That is an experience that I have always wanted to have and I’m happy to be here today.
You participated in your first training with the squad on Wednesday morning. How did you feel?My first training went well. I have to admit that I still feel a bit jetlagged… It’s actually a big difference (laughs), but it was a good start and a good training with my new team.
Do you know any of the players on the team?
